1. When should a Consultee seek a Consultation?

When a person suffers the sudden breakdown of some bodily organ (or  bodily system), he seeks out a doctor – a specialist in that domain. In much the same way, we’ll have to seek out a wise Jyotishi, for healing ourselves, in times of misfortune when all our solutions, strategies & plans have gone to pieces.

Talking of healing, one understands what one means by healing the body – because the body is such a tangible thing. But when life itself turns against us, then, even our understanding of ‘healing’ may become rather confused. At such times, most importantly, it is our self (who we are, inwardly) that gets deeply hurt, insulted, humiliated & broken, and so it is this self which must be healed. In some, the awareness of this inner disruption & destruction may be bright, in others that awareness may be poor, or even non-existent.

2. What is the Process of a Jyotisha Consultation?

A Jyotisha Consultation is an intense process of learning through dialogue & enquiry. There are generally two individuals involved here, the Jyotishi, who is the Consultant and the Consultee who has come in a distressed condition or in a mood to ascertain the truth in some sphere of his life. Sometimes there may be two or three Consultees, who are family members. Both are equally important; neither, more important than the other. There has to be an empathy for each other, and there must be an honest sharing between the two of them. The Consultee must have the freedom to ask Qs and the Jyotishi must be patient & willing to reply all Qs. Importantly, if the Jyotishi does not know the answer to a certain Q, he must have no hesitation in owning up to his ignorance. For his part too, the Consultee must not hide facts, but must rather share all necessary life details. The Jyotishi must also maintain confidentiality of all information shared with him in trust.

3. Two Darshanas (Frameworks) in the Consultation

The consultation, commences when the Jyotishi, introduces to the Consultee, two darshanas (frameworks). These are like two domains, ‘two halls’(if you wish to put it that way), within which the whole process of the consultation – namely learning through dialogue & discovery – happens.

The first darshana (framework) is that of Jyotisha itself. It is a symbolic ‘life-story’ or ‘astrological-biography’ of the Consultee. In step 1, the Jyotishi, introduces to the Consultee, the mythic model of Jyotisha, which will then enable the Consultee to creatively grasp what Jyotisha is all about.

In step 2, the Consultee is exposed to the three patterns, central to Jyotisha. These are Divine architecture, Divine patronage, Divine conspiracy in his/her own life.

In step 3, the Jyotishi, introduces the four important sub-systems of Jyotisha. These are not difficult to understand – when one approaches them with an open mind.

(i) Twelve Zodiacal Signs,

(ii) The Twelve Houses,

(iii) The Nine Planets (Navagrahas), and the finally, the

(iv) The Vimshottari dasha-bhukti system of clock-time.

The second darshana (framework) is that of Krishnamurtian self–Knowing. The Consultee will be educated to discern the Atma karaka and the self in all the twelve houses of the Rasi Chart. Both frameworks will urge the Consultee to face the harsh reality of life, which will be obviously, one of vexing duality. Most people learn nothing at all through suffering. They do not know how to suffer, do not internalize suffering, so their self never ‘dies’, and is therefore never ennobled. Thus, they do not flower by assimilating suffering through self-Knowing. Both frameworks offer a profound understanding of oneself, how one’s self is Divinely architectured, and how it reels under Divine conspiracy. Both darshanas(frameworks)offer profound understanding also of ‘other people’; profound understanding of the Mysterious, Intangible & Unmanifest Divine.  

4. The Consultee comes to the Jyotishi because of a Life-Crisis

In every life-crisis, disruption & destruction happen in the inner world of consciousness & self, as well as in the outer world of relationship, money matters, family life, profession, power, position & prestige. A wise Jyotishi must address the disruption & destruction in both the inner as well as in the outer worlds. He  must offer acceptable lines of solutions in both spheres. In this process, he should not make the mistake of making the Consultee psychologically dependent on him. On the contrary, he must spiritually inspire & empower the Consultee, so that the Consultee can take responsibility for his/her own life, and can learn to stand on his/her own feet-in the wake of the inspired Consultation.

5. Is the Jyotishi Competent to Heal the Broken self?

Here, we have to pay close attention to the inner world. In ancient society, people invariably turned to an ashram, a temple, a church, a guru, a church father, a yogi, a shaman, a god, a deity, or some holy book for receiving guidance & healing. In modern times, we go to psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, counsellors and the process is often long-drawn-out and may not be fully effective either. The reason is that in these modern approaches, Primordial Awareness, the source of healing is not invoked at all, much less, understood as the Ultimate Healing Source.

Sankara Bhagavadpada approaches this widespread & deep problem of the bruised & broken self through both Jyotisha as well as through Krishnamurtian self-Knowing. In this way the hurt & disturbed self has much better chances of recovery and restoration to the former state of inner equipoise. This is not a promise of some rapid miraculous healing. Rather, much serious work has to be done by the suffering Consultee himself/herself, by understanding and by becoming aware of what is going on in his/her consciousness and in the world of the self.

Then after attending to the inner world; the disruption & destruction that the life crisis has created in the outer world, must also be addressed.

6. The Healing Sources are Accessible from Within

In truth, it is the Primordial Awareness, and then, our Intelligence and Understanding which heal. Because no one told us this emphatically, we have been looking for Healing in the outer world. In truth, we already have the master keys within us. What is missing is our self-Knowing, and also our recognition that we already have access to this infinite invisible Awareness. It is now only a question of humility & sincere willingness to learn about ourselves. Because of the confluence of Krishnamurtian self-Knowing and Jyotisha, the healing process opens a new Gate and becomes more efficacious than in the traditional approaches. Maitreya Jyotisha is the name for this potent confluence of two profound streams of learning & healing. One very ancient, and the other modern, yet immensely original & profound.

7. ‘Disruption & Destruction’ Caused by the Life Crisis

Note however, that the healing of the self is a process on the inner side of our complex life. We will now address the disruption & destruction, the life-crisis has caused on the outer side. That calls for ‘intelligent action’, which is superior to ‘tactical & timely adjustments or manipulations’. Spiritual people, or people who have digested self-Knowing will be able to take ‘intelligent action’, which would never have been possible had they not cared to look within themselves (self-Knowing).

Both are important, the breakdown in the inner, as well as in the outer spheres of life, so both must be addressed. Other people, who turn a blind eye to the inner realm, will only resort to ‘outer tactical & manipulative decisions’. The result will be that, in spite of the problem having been ‘considered resolved’; they would never be able to recover from sorrow, and from the inner darkness, anger & brokenness. The proverbial healing that time is supposed to bring in can also be expected to be only of a superficial nature. In fact, it is self-deception that time will heal.

8. Jyotisha’s Solution for the ‘Outer’ Life Crisis

After the Jyotishi has initiated us into Krishnamurtian self-Knowing, if we are utterly earnest – while still reeling under the life-crisis – it would lead to Inward Flowering and also the Awakening of Intelligence.

In the Amanaska Yoga domain of Sankara’s work, the above themes are addressed deeply, systematically and thoroughly. One may solve a life-problem by brute force, or through manipulation & deceit, or through this Awakened Intelligence. The highest kind of solution for addressing the outer disruption & destruction that the life-crisis has caused, has to come from the Awakened Intelligence. Maitreya Jyotisha inspires & cautions Consultees, not to be hasty and impetuous. For when they are hasty and impetuous, they will not wait for the Awakened Intelligence to step in and handle the disruption & destruction. Instead, they may resort to brute force or manipulation, deceit or even accept failure passively.

9. Will the Consultee have access to the Recorded Online Consultation?

Yes, this is one reason, why the Online Zoom consultations may be preferred. They offer much larger ‘take-a-ways’ than the face-to-face consultations. Not only the recorded Zoom video & audio can be accessed and saved, even the docs used in the Zoom consultation can be taken away, saved, viewed and listened to again & again for greater assimilation and internalization.

10. What makes the Maitreya Jyotisha Consultations Unique?

(a)In these Jyotisha consultations, we always request the Consultees to be participants in the consultations, asking  questions actively and thereby intensely learning; but never believing, never agreeing with the interpretations of their charts-given by the Jyotishi. Our approach is to help the Consultees gain understanding and insights, rather than derive solace through credulous belief in what the Jyotishi is putting before them.

(b) The Jyotishi ‘s  intention is to make the Consultees understand that there are Cosmic benefic and Cosmic malefic Life Energies which are orchestrating our lives. The Jyotishi ‘s intention is to encourage the Consultees to enquire and think with the Jyotishi and explore into the truth of their lives, so that they may receive greater clarity, greater understanding & greater liberation from the dangerous idea that all life is already determined by fate. In fact in Jyotisha, the future is not already determined. Rather, the future is a series of probabilities (Sutra). Why is this so? Because – as our Understanding, Intelligence & Primordial Awareness-which are the sources of healing are already within us-we may, by drawing from these subtle sources, intelligently modify some of the future probabilities, especially those which are negative.

(c) The Jyotishi will suggest both modern as well as traditional remedial measures(Upayas), as enjoined by Maharishi Parashara,  5500 years ago in his all-time Jyotisha classic: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra in Two Vols. The modern forms of remedial measures are also prescribed through harnessing the creative power of focused thought in conjunction with rock-like Primordial Awareness, as these two together are much like powerful creative laser light. These remedial measures may help us to modify the existing constricted destiny for the better, by overwriting on the old patterns of Divine conspiracy in the various spheres of life.

11. How does a Consultee Prepare for a Consultation?

Usually, Sankara will send by email some introductory documents, and even some you tube videos, so as to familiarize Consultees with the two darshanas (frameworks) and their special key words and key metaphors. It is up to the Consultees to study these docs and watch these intro videos. If the Consultees prepare seriously in this way, the consultation will be so much more fruitful. A Consultee should most importantly sit down and think about the various questions which he/she would like to bring to the consultation. As the consultations are based on genuine dialogue & enquiry which offer a wonderful opportunity for learning, the Consultee must also get ready for fearless discussions. If he/she does not ask Qs and engage in a dialogue, the fruitfulness of a consultation will also be reduced.

12. What is the Duration of a Consultation?

Because these consultations are based on dialogue, enquiry & learning, every consultation invariably goes on for 2 to 3 hrs. Whether that consultation is of the face-to-face kind or of the Online Zoom kind.

13. What about Consultations as an Emergency?

Yes, by sending a WhatsApp message(+91-9884010548), if Sri Sankara is free, he will accept the message and respond immediately, and a consultation can be fixed without any delay. If Sri. Sankara is travelling, or is already committed, then of course, there could be a slight delay.

14. What Details do I need to Provide for a Consultation?

The complete birth details: year of birth, month of birth, date of birth, place of birth and time of birth. Also, for every consultation, there has to be a life-context and some questions that are in the mind of the Consultee coming for the consultation. Where the time of birth is unavailable, Sri Sankara may have to resort to ‘Prashna Shastra’ (Horary Astrology) or to Sant Tulsi Das’s Ram Charitra Manas (Ramayana Oracle). In a few instances, Sankara has offered ‘I Ching’ Consultations as well.

15. “Are my Personal Details kept Confidential?”

Sometimes your personal life-details are stored in the two powerful Jyotisha Software Applications that Sankara heavily uses: Jyotish Tools of Brian Conrad and Shri Jyoti Star 9 Pro of Dr. Andrew Foss. Sometimes, he records your personal details in his notebooks. Nobody has access to his Jyotisha notebooks. Thus privacy protection and confidentiality are intrinsic in his astrological consultation work.

16. “Do you offer Follow-up Sessions after a Consultation?”

Sankara has been offering consultations from 2003. Thus his notebooks and his archives are a record of his ongoing consultations. He commenced his studies and research in Jyotisha in 1998. All the consultations, the names of the Consultees, when they consulted, their pertinent life-circumstances, their countries are catalogued, so that he may go back to a case study, whenever the need for that retrieval arises. There are a number of Consultees, scattered all over the world, who have been consulting him since the early beginnings and he has records of all of those Zoom dialogues, or email dialogues, their Jyotisha Charts.

Consultees may come back for the same problem at a later time, because that original problem still remains unsolved. In this case, follow up sessions happen naturally. Or, that Consultee often comes back for another problem in his/her own life. It also happens that although their problems have been resolved, because new problems surfaced in the lives of their near and dear, they contact him again. All in all, for one reason or the other, meeting a Consultee in a consultation many a time, has been quite a happening thing for him.

17. Five Acharyas of Maitreya Jyotisha: As Jyotishis

On Jan 27^th, 2025, in Chennai, Sri Sankara Bhagavadpada publicly anointed, Sri. Sambasiva Ramanananda(Chennai, India) and Sri. Arun Krishnan(Chennai, India) as an Acharya of Maitreya Jyotisha & Amanaska Yoga. 

Then, on Feb 14^th, 2025, in Rishikesh, during the Amanaska Brahma Yajna, Sri. Madhu Sai Deevanapalli (Kamloops, BC, Canada); Sri. Ricardo Bravo (Santiago, Chile), Sri. Krishnaraj Sankruthi(Coimbatore, India) were anointed by Sri Sankara Bhagavadpada as Acharyas of both Maitreya Jyotisha and Amanaska Yoga. In the eyes of Sankara, every one of these five Acharyas are competent to teach Maitreya Jyotisha & Amanaska Yoga, as well as offer Consultations in these two disciplines.

All these Acharyas are highly intelligent, learned in these disciplines, extremely good-natured, sincere & dedicated. That is why, they were anointed and accredited as Acharyas for Sanatana Dharma, and not Acharyas affiliated to the individual Sri Sankara Bhagavadpada.  It is Sri Sankara’s Intention that all these five Acharyas qualify to offer Consultations in the discipline of Maitreya Jyotisha. Their qualification comes from their perpetual Jyotisha educational process through which  Sankara Bhagavadpada has been putting them-in spite of their many years of learning of this discipline. It may also be noted that Sankara has known all these noble, good-natured and spiritually inclined individuals for three decades.

18. What are the Different Types of Jyotisha Consultations Offered?

Here are some time-tested and traditionally renowned kinds of consultations. As Jyotisha’s domain is the whole of life, we should not be surprised at a great variety in the kinds of consultations:

(i) Jyotisha light for marital discord, break-down of every-kind of relationship, based on self-Knowing, as well as based on traditional Jyotisha sutras in ‘compatibility analysis’.

21. Can I Gift a Consultation to Someone Else?

Yes indeed. In fact it has happened sometimes that a seeker whom Sri Sankara has known for very many years, pays for one of his friends and then a new consultation happens, involving that friend, who is of course new to Sankara. In such cases, the payment is made by the old seeker, whereas the beneficiary does not have to pay, he/she is only enjoying the consultation for free.

22. Are the Consultations Predictive or Reflective?

Most of the questions from Consultees, ask for predictions. Like the timing of a certain event like marriage, favorable times for progeny, favorable times for overseas travel & overseas settlement, favorable times for higher education, favorable times for a professional ascent, or the timing of recovery from a dreadful disease like cancer. Thus, whether the consultation happens in the material spheres of artha & kama, or the spiritual spheres of dharma & moksha, predictive Jyotisha is an inherent part of every Jyotisha consultation. Sri Sankara insists on your understanding, learning, and arriving at insights and this usually happens whenever the individual dialogues with Sri Sankara, asking questions freely and fearlessly. These consultations are not merely ‘Reflective’, they are as vast as Life itself, since Jyotisha is also as vast as Life itself.
