VIII. Humble Beginnings of the Jyotisha Course
There was a certain trend that prevailed from 2010-2017, when about 20 seekers took this course. At that time the course had only about 150 lessons. Even after 2017, more seekers & scholars did take the course. In those early years, it was called, ‘A Modern Course in Vedic Astrology’. It was structured as a self-paced email course, with the opportunity to dialogue with Sankara through emails throughout their period of learning.
All those bright men & women had a calling, a curiosity to study Jyotisha, for there has always been a mystery about this ‘eighth house discipline of learning’. They were spiritual teachers, intelligent & educated housewives, computer engineers, international financial consultants, a structural engineer, life-coaches, spiritual teachers, psychologists, thinkers. There was a retd. professor of theoretical physics, who had a good position at one of the US Universities. In short, seekers, students, scholars were from diverse fields.
Common to all of them was the passion to learn, deep interest in the mysterious ‘8th house disciplines of learning’, profound interest, etc. Some seekers had a philosophical bent of mind, they were intrigued by karma, by the trials & tribulations in their own lives, so sought, clarity and understanding in this nebulous and painful area of suffering.
All the same, the eleven testimonials give us a clear picture as to how and to what an extent, each one of them benefitted from the study of this course. Sankara honours every one of these learners, seekers, scholars. He has thoroughly enjoyed teaching them and also learning from their questions. All of them had deep penetrative minds-which is why they came to seriously study and take delight in this Course.
