V. Difference Between Part 1 & Part 2 of the Courses?

The Maitreya Jyotisha Course has roughly 230 lessons. The First Part of the Course is ‘Modern & Foundational’, simple & analytical, covering 165 lessons, spread across Ten Modules. It is based on systematic thought development, with a clearly defined Jyotisha framework, with predictive accuracy & analytical clarity in the form of sutras of the Systems Approach [SA] developed by Professor V. K. Choudhry.

In this First Part we learn how every problem in Jyotisha is to be approached, ‘seen’, studied, understood and resolved; whether that problem is in the sphere of marital life, professional life, in the sphere of health & disease, or in dharma & moksha – which are the spiritual spheres of life.

The Second Part is ancient, traditional Jyotisha, a stack of 75 lessons based on Classical Jyotisha: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra in Two Vols.

The First and the Second Part together, teach us how to look at any given human problem either from the classical Jyotisha framework, or from the SA framework; understand that problem according to the sutras of Jyotisha & gain a cluster of liberating insights into that problem.

Understanding the Predictive Power of the SA and the Deeper Inner Wholistic Insights of Parashara’s VA

The houses(Hs) are the 12 spheres of outer life. The zodiacal signs are the 12 spheres of the ‘Cosmic Climates’(inner life), on which the outer spheres of life, namely, the Hs come to rest. India is now in the ascending Dwapara yuga, really, not even fully out of the sandhi of Kali yuga & ascending Dwapara yuga. In more luminous yugas, like the Satya yuga & the Treta yuga, one may expect the significations of the zodiacal signs to have a stronger say than the significations of the Hs. However, in Kali yuga and in descending Dwapara, as well as in ascending Dwapara yugas, one has to make allowance for greater maya in the Divine architecture; meaning greater extroversion, so the Hs have come to have a greater say than the zodiacal signs(Sutra).

This is the fundamental reason, why in this current ascending Dwapara yuga, the darshana of Jyotisha, which gives greater emphasis to the Functional Nature of Planets(as does the SA); is able to have greater accuracy and greater predictive power; than a darshana of Jyotisha, which gives greater emphasis to the General Malefic & Benefic Nature of Planets. We are living in a more extroverted yuga. Our consciousness and lifestyle are both more extroverted; so it is not surprising that the SA which stresses the Functional Nature of Planets is on the dot, whereas Parashara’s Jyotisha is not on the dot where predictions are concerned. Although it must be said that Parashara’s Jyotisha does give a wonderfully deep & broad understanding of inner & outer life, which the SA does not give. Thus we need both the SA(Part 1), as well as Parashara’s Jyotisha(Part 2), as they are complementary to each other and cover different aspects which we need for a total overarching vision.
